Daily Prayer - May 22
Please join me in the sign of our faith. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
This Sunday Catholics around the world celebrate a very special day. It is the Feast of Pentecost. This is the last day of the beautiful season of Easter which lasted for 50 days!
Pentecost Sunday is known as the birthday of our church!
Pentecost marks the day that Jesus' apostles began their mission of going out into the world and spreading the good news of Jesus!
Our priests and deacons will be wearing the colour RED this Sunday as we celebrate the birthday of the church in our parishes. Red, symbolizes the "tongues of fire" which is the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles.
Let us pray:
Come, Holy Spirit, fill my heart with your fire
Help me to love others as Jesus loves me.
Please breathe in me, so that my thoughts will be holy.
Act in me, so that my actions will be holy.
Rest in my heart, so that I can love what is holy.
Strengthen me, so I can defend what is holy.
Protect me, so I can be holy.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
